I usually have someone to run with on these Saturday morning outings but one of the regulars is Nashville running a half marathon and the other is, I think, working. But that didn’t stop me from going out on a beautiful morning with 42° and no wind to cover a few more streets in the Heights.
When I’ve been doing solo runs I decided to start on the south end of the area east of Main Street and work my way north. Our group runs have started at Mary Street and are coming south and we will eventually meet them up. Today I went back to Clevenger Park when I’d run earlier this week and worked my way north from there.
I first had to head west on Shawnee, another one of the many unpaved streets in the Heights.
It looped around and I found myself on the other side of Clevenger Park on Radford.
Radford hits a dead end at an irrigation canal.
On Radford looking east toward Ganain’s nursery.
I ended up back on Main Street for a block to see the other end of Radford.
Then it was a long haul up Main Street, almost to Anchor.
They must be hurting for business due to the proliferation of car washes in the city.
I’m not really into cake but that does sound good right now.
I turned on to Logan. It’s like a small country road and it’s just off Main.
There is still some green space.
I got back to Bench and went north a block or so to head east on Anchor. At the end of Anchor I turned north for a block on Naples. This opens into a new neighborhood with rows of cookie cutter snout houses.
On Ahoy I encountered some wild animals.
The next street is Steffanich which is another unpaved route.
Even though the street is unpaved there are some really nice homes here. This one is well done and have a big side yard.
At the end of the street I got on the bike path to get to Dorothy.
Heading west on Dorothy with three short out and backs along the way.
On one of the short streets I saw this. It looks like someone had a hit on the Scumball Mafia.
This hydrant is hiding in some tall weeds.
Some of this area is still quite rural.
I turned on Heights Lane which is a loop and the north side is mostly Mobil homes.
At the end there’s a night farm house and big yard.
There is a shortcut to the bike trail at the end of Heights Lane.
I headed west on the loop toward Bench and saw this along the way.
Back on Bench I was across from a junkyard.
I did an out and back on Birch. I talked to one of the residents and she told me that this is where the big standout/shootout was a few years ago. I think that was when the police brought in a dozer and collapse a trailer. It was quiet now. It’s all mobile homes and RVs on the street.
I did Dreamers Loop, mostly duplexes, fairly new.
It’s spring.
Looking back on Dreamers.
That was it. A bit shorter than most Saturday runs but only by about a half mile. A very pleasant morning out.
