Run 133 - West of Lake Elmo

October 21, 2023

It’s a brisk fall morning and since I’ve pretty much given up on the Rim Runners Saturday morning group runs, for lack of other runners, and Shelley is out of town, I drove directly out to Lake Elmo State Park and started my run from there.  Last week we ran the streets of the east side of the lake and today I decided to work on those to the west.  This is all residential, single-family homes on wide streets with a few curves and some hills.

Sunrise over Lake Elmo.

Heading west on River Oaks, crossing the BBWA canal.

When I came near the intersection of River Oaks and Annandale, I thought I smelled a gas leak but I think the stench was coming from this pond.

I wound through the neighborhoods on quiet streets.

I wondered if this layered soil is under most of the houses out here.

Yes, there are some hills.

I got peaks at the lake.

This place is for sale and has a huge yard.

A fountain and a gazebo in this front yard.

This house is up on the high ground on Skyview Circle.  The high school, Skyview, is just visible in the distance to the left of it.

Another view of the lake.  I should mention that these houses that look like they have lake access, don’t.  They are separated from it by the BBWA canal.

I saw some wildlife.

I’ve always wondered what prompts people to put these stars on their houses.

The Spanish influence on this place sets it apart from every other house I’ve seen today.

We are still getting some full colors.

The BBWA canal is empty now.

It was a good run.  When I got back to my car I used the nearby restroom to change into some clean clothes and then headed over to my car club meeting which was conveniently in Billings Heights today.
