This morning I picked up where I left off last Saturday, finishing off the streets south of Central, west of 15th. It’s a mix or residential and industrial providing an interesting tour and some photo opportunities.
I started off at Comanche Park again. It’s a nice little park that the city has done a great job of upgrading over the years.
I did want to see what was at the end of 12th street which does not show as a street on my map and I thought there might be a shortcut to Foster Lane. Nope, a “No Trespassing” sign and the downed trees indicated otherwise.
I went north on 12th and then east on Central to turn south on foster. This pawn shop used to be the city’s last photography store and film processing lab called Kasper’s. Things have changed in that world with the move to digital although I still shoot film and develop it in my darkroom. (Full disclosure: these phone are shot with an iPhone.)
This is looking down Foster. It’s a nice street with well-kept houses of all different styles. Back when I lived nearby the street had a bad rep and there seemed to be frequent police activity here but I think that was concentrated at the southern end.
There it’s some kind of therapy center here.
The end of the road.
Some nice yard art.
The house across the street from the previous photo is getting an upgrade.
And the house next door and a large yard.
Now I get into the industrial area.
Charles street is closed but not to me.
This is where old signs go when they die.
Where Charles meets Monad.
I guess they’ve had a dog problem
From the south end of Charles Street, looking north.
Lots and lots of gas cylinders.
This place is nice looking and tucked away on the south end of Bernard Street.
And this is at the south end of Albert Street.
I headed up Bernard, north of Monad, as my map indicated that it when through to Industrial Ave. Not anymore.
I considered a shortcut but it looked like there was a fence at the other end.
There was a fence but the gate was open.
It was an interesting run, definitely see sights I had never seen before and I enjoyed the variations
