It is Wednesday and our running club, the Yellowstone Rim Runners, has one of its weekly run at 6pm. As it’s the first Wednesday, we meet at Time Out Sports, our local running store, and do a 5-mile run through the west end of the city. I decided to show up but veer off the usual route and cover some miles for my project. It was a good turnout and most of them took off on the traditional route but my friends Shelley and Diana were up for something different. My route covers all the streets within a half mile or so of the store. Here’s the map:
We took off a little past 6pm and the run was lots of fun, chatting the whole way and having lots of laughs. Since it was dark out, I didn’t take many pictures, but here’s a few:
In taking a close look at the map, in the upper-right of the course, one might wonder if we missed a street since we only ran the west end of it. We didn’t. We ran a portion of an alley to get to the next street and I don’t consider alleys to be “streets” as part of this project. Running all the alleys of Billings would make an interesting project of its own though.
We didn’t double-track too many streets and when we arrived back at the start my GPS indicated 4.84 miles. That’s pretty close to the 5-miles that the map application predicted. Here are the results:
