Run 103 - South of Central around Plainview

August 26, 2023

I showed up at the Y for the Saturday morning group run with the Rim Runners and everyone there was a walker, not a runner, so, being prepared with a new route map, I left and drove to Comanche Park and started working on the streets in that area.  It’s a mix of industrial and residential.  As you can see, I’ll be back to finish off those streets in the middle.

Looking north on 12th from Comanche Park.

Central and 12th.

14th dead ends south of El Dorado.

I’ll add that to the pile.

Looking east on Central from 16th.

The backside of the city cemetery as I head toward Edwards Street.

Edwards Street.

This is Daniels Street.  Note: no sidewalks.

I had to run in the ditch to get here and picked up about a dozen goat heads in each shoe.

This, below, is looking east on Monad.  Note: no sidewalks.

I wonder what this fits?

Moore Lane/Monad/Hardin Road.

Looking north on Plainview from Monad.

I used to own this house on El Dorado.

Nice yard art.

I got in almost 5 miles.

Run 102 - “On a treadmill”

August 25, 2023

OK, I didn’t run on a treadmill but that is what Shelley said that today’s route was like since we did 5 miles and really didn’t go anywhere.  As has become our Friday routine, we start at 5:30am to get 5 miles of streets covered.  We met at Rimrock West Park in the neighborhood that one of the maps calls “West Shilo” which makes sense since it is west of Shilo Road.  We ran some of this last Friday and it will take a few more Fridays to get it all.  Here’s today’s route map:

Yes, 5 miles of streets in that neighborhood.  There really wasn’t much that struck me as worth taken many photos but here are a few.

Interesting windows.

Big back yard.

A nice sunrise.

Nice entry to this house.

A short cut.  We didn’t take it.

That it.  It was cool out and felt great.

Run 101 - Around Lampman Park

August 23, 2023

It’s a beautiful morning although a bit humid after the rain storm that moved through the area overnight.  Since it’s a Tuesday I like to get in the best part of 7 miles so I laid out this course:

This almost all quiet residential streets for I popped in my AirPod Pros and played some good get-up-and-go tunes.  I usually don’t wear them when I’m running because I like to hear the cars around me but it was really quiet on these streets.

It started at Lampman Park, an undeveloped city park on Monad, just east of 32nd.  I have a better photo of it at the end of the run.

The route was just east and west and then some north and south.

This building sits alongside the BBWA Canal where it goes under Monday. You can see it on the left in the photo above and the sign on the door in the photo below.

Wow, a pink house!  Pink has become a controversial color these days.

Some undeveloped land a block off King.

I won’t be taking any shortcuts through here.

I’d forgotten that Skateworld is tucked away back here.

I had to do a few block on King Ave.

I crossed 32nd and did a few blocks over there.  The route took me by this school.  Classes start today.

32nd and Monad.

Lampman Park.

The stats for today.

Some final thoughts
