Run 175 - Alkali Creek Road

June 8, 2024

It’s another Saturday run and time to get a few more streets in the Billings Heights checked off the list.  There is not much left, perhaps 2-3 runs to finish it off.  The plan is to start next to the old gas station on Alkali Creek Road and clean up some streets southeast of there before moving along and getting a bunch of streets on the west side of the road.

It’s a beautiful morning, 53°, blue skies, and no wind.  Shelley and I got started just after 7 am.  Some sights along the way:

Heading up Tumbleweed.

There looked to be a new road, not recently built and not named, that needed to be run on so we added that one on.  (Later I saw on the map that it’s called “Aubrey Lane.”)  Nothing has been built along it yet but there are some nice views there.

We turned back on Alkali Creek and went past a city park that has a serious uphill trail.

The next road was Moon Valley, an up and back.  What a nice place to live with houses nestled up against the rimrock walls of the valley and surrounded by trees.

A lone deer was checking us out.

We were back on Alkali Creek Road.

We turned on Strawberry and did an out and back on Blonco.  There’s a nice park there, some wildflowers, and a sighting of Alkali Creek.

A few views on Strawberry.

It looks like this house is on an easement.

An out and back on Sandstone and then a tour on Evergreen eventually brought us back to Alkali Creek Road.

We stopped next to Alkali Creek School to check out the nature trail route, something we ran a few years ago, and decided that we need to come back and do it again.

It was a great run with lots to see along the way.  Here are the stats.
