Today's run covers the street in my neighborhood. The route is bounded by Woody Drive on the west, 17th Street West on the east, Rimrock Drive on the north, and Poly Drive on the south. There are a few skipped segments on Rimrock, Poly, and Woody but I'll pick them up on subsequent run.
I headed out the door at 11:25 am with Bart the Dog ready to go. I run frequently with Bart and he's pretty good about his role of being hooked onto me as we cover many miles. His longest run has been about 7.5 miles and he was still ready to keep going so these 4-6 miles segments should be no problem for him.
The weather was good at 32 degrees F and no wind and I found out that I might have overdressed a bit. This was probably a holdover from the -22 degrees F we saw a week ago.
I have my map:
And here we go:
As runs go, this one was pretty uneventful. We just had to cover the distance. Since it is mostly side streets, there was little traffic and the only hard was on ice.
We're careful crossing that stuff.
Early on in the run, when covering Pryor Lane, I stopped at Sunnyview and Pryor and shed my outer layer and my gloves, dropping them in the back of a pickup. It's OK, I know the owner (me). I'll pick them up on the way back.
We headed down Vigilante Lane which is one of several "No Outlet" streets on the route. Lots of ice here.
Rimrock Road is a busy street but the traffic is light today.
We got around to 17th Street West and turned into Stanford Court. It's a bunch of "No Outlet" streets and the sign indicates that it's private but I know two people who live here so I figured it was OK.
We headed back up to Rimrock Road and we were about 4.5 miles into the run when I spied some trash on the sidewalk. I stopped to take a picture.
You might wonder why this litter was worth photographing. Well, in all my years of running and seeing a variety of abandoned beer containers, I have noted that they tend to be "macro" beers, particularly of the "Lite" variety. To see an IPA can tells me that the taste of litterbugs might be improving.
We arrived back home and Bart was ready to get off the leash and eat some snow.
The result was 5.18 miles, pretty close to what my map had predicted. I think this was because I picked up two very small streets, the "No Outlet" type, Darlene and Hancock.
Here what the Garmin indicated:
And a close up of the map it made:
That's one down and many to go.
