After running about 30 miles last week I wanted to start this week with a shorter run today. Instead of my usual 5-miler I designed a route that would give me a bit less than 4 through some curvy roads. The streets are names after the Greek Olympics: Decathlon, Gymnast, Grecian, Spartan, Gladiator, Marathon, Relay, Discus, Torch, etc.

Run 111 - The Olympics
September 11, 2023
As the map shows, it’s sort of circular. The streets in the upper right as mostly single-family homes, a development continuing from the one of the east. There are no sidewalks on the streets as they are located behind the homes in green spaces. The neighborhoods transition as they move to the southwest, going from duplexes and patio homes to larger apartment buildings.
That was it. It was a bit chilly at the start, about 50 degrees, which felt pretty good once I got a mile into the run.

Run 110 - A couple orphan streets
September 9, 2023
I turned on Garden Avenue and saw this wildlife.
It’s Saturday morning and Shelley’s gone fishing so I decided to go to the RI’m Runners group run and see if any runners showed up. There were two and they are WAY faster than I can go so I ended up running by myself (again). That’s not a problem as I don’t need others in orders to do stuff, just like I wrote about on my motorcycle blog.
I hadn’t made up a route map but did look on my master pap and noticed that the 27th Street overpass and a piece of Garden Avenue had not been run yet so I decided that going to Mystic Park via these streets would be just the thing.
I left at 7am and headed through downtown Billings, past the setting up of the farmer’s market, and then past South Park. I got on 27th and headed up the overpass that crosses the freeway.

Run 109 - The Temple and some College Streets
September 8, 2023
I guess they don’t wants dogs on the gravel path.
This is the Mont Vista neighborhood. Similar homes but they feature a variety of colors which is refreshing.
There are two short streets and one longer one on the south side of Rimrock and we crossed over to cover them. Getting across Rimrock at drive time is a bit like playing Frogger.
It’s a 6:30am run on a quite cool morning. Shelley and I met up across from the temple and covered streets around there before moving southwest and running the streets in the Mont Vista subdivision.
Here’s our morning sky.
