Run 033 - Around Eaton Park

March 10, 2023

I really had no excuse not to do this run today and cleanup some east/west streets in my general neighborhood.  No wind, 29 degrees, and a bit of sun.  There’s still some ice to watch out for but it’s a residential area so quiet streets.  I layered up, put in my AirPods, put my No Skip List on shuffle and went out the door.  The planned map:

Here’s some photos shot along the way.

A civil defense siren.

Poly Drive school.

A couple panoramas of Eaton Park.

Run 032 - O’Malley, Grand, 6th to 9th

March 8, 2023

It was rather chilly tonight, about 19 degrees F, for a 5 mile run with Shelley and Marlena.  It was light out for the first mile or so but it started getting dark about the same time it started snowing.  The route was to pick up some north/south streets between Grand and Parkhill with some small streets in the northeast corner of that area.

A couple photos before it was too dark:

There some ice to watch out for but most of it is gone but that will change with the storm that is supposed to come in over night.

Run 031 - Terry and Custer

March 7, 2023

Another Tuesday run with Jerry and this was a new route that would cover a couple east/west streets and still give us the 7 miles we like to do.  At 29 degrees F it was plenty comfortable.  Here is the planning map:

I had my Minolta 16P camera with me and took lots of photos along the way.  I developed them when I got home using “Caffenol” developer which is a mix of instant coffee, vitamin C, and washing soda.  It works great.  Those are the black and white images.  The others were shot with my iPhone.

I guess this sign is more polite that if it said “Keep the F___ Out!”

This looks like an interesting place.

Looks like they don’t want any bicyclists.

That’s some weird stuff they have there.

Yep, that grass looks very precious.

Here’s just some street views.

It was a lucrative day.  We found a total of 76 cents.

Run 030 - More of Downtown

March 3, 2023

It was a another Saturday morning run for the Rim Runners and while there were a half-dozen runners that showed up, it was only Shelley who wanted to run this route with me:

The others did the “traditional” route.  This one was pretty simple, lots of north and south meandering through downtown Billings and a bit to the east.  The weather was great, about 20 degrees F so I went with shorts and a couple layers of t-shirts.  Gloves were a must.

Here’s some photos I shot along the way.

Just off Montana Ave we saw this and went in for a closer look.  It’s an old BMW that has seen better days and now appears to be used as a planter.

There are some interesting buildings in this, the oldest part of town.

There is still a bit of ice around, some of it creating some interesting patterns.

I’m not sure how much these tracks are used these days.

That was about it.  A 6.2 miles run.

Run 029 - East of Westpark Plaza

March 1, 2023

It was a pleasant evening for our weekly Rim Runners group run and, as has become the case, Shelley and Marlena were ready to try out one of my routes for this project.  I’d looked at what was near our starting point, Time Out Sports, and saw that I needed to cover lots of streets to the east so that is what I planned.  We do 5 miles so I had to fiddle with a few option to get it near that.

There were lots of twists and turns and although it was light out when we took off, it got dark pretty quick and we had to take causation looking for ice. Here’s one photo of them running ahead of me.

It got dark to I didn’t shoot any more pictures so here’s the run stats:
