I knew it would be Saturday morning run and that Shelley would not be there so I assumed that I’d be running it alone and planned out a course that would pick up some missing blocks here and there. I laid it out on the app and came up with about 6 miles so that seemed OK. Here’s the planning map. The orange line is the route and the circled areas are the blocks I need to cover.
Just as it was time to take off, a young couple showed up to do the run. Nice folks, relatively new to the area but not to running. He does ultras and she does marathons. They had their little ones in a stroller and said that any route was good and didn’t have a problem doing some run/walk.
We headed out and ran up to the university, down Park Lane, and then up on Rimrock to nail that one block I’d missed a week ago. We had nice conversation about running and other things as we wound our way south to pick up Poderosa. There I stopped for a moment to say his to Dan, who I used to teach with, who was out walking his dog. We picked up the missing blocks on Parkhill and 10th St. West before running the ones on Ave B and the out back on Colorado. Except for the ones on Anderson that we’d get on the way back, that was it. I did take one photo along the way.
Instead of heading back, I suggested we head over a couple block to say Hi to Shelley who was working here state sale. We did and then crossed Grand at 13th and then had to run down to Lewis to find our way to Alderson which took us all the way to where we started.
The predicted 5.95 turned into a 7.12 which felt pretty good.
